The IV line was a red ribbon on the white floor.
Arthur had tried to sit up, his movements clumsy and desperate. Sarah caught him before he could fall.
"Careful! You’re bleeding!"
She guided him back to the bed. Arthur looked defeated.

Sarah took his hand, holding it between both of hers. "I'm holding your hand now, Arthur. And it's warm. She's not in the cold. she's in the warmth of the life you shared."
