Through the glass panel, the room looked like a stage.

Arthur had violently pulled off his oxygen mask, his chest heaving with an effort his body couldn't sustain. Sarah ran in, her face a mask of panic as she restored the mask.

"Breathe! Stay with me!"

Arthur settled, his eyes closing in exhaustion. "She stopped breathing," he said, the words muffled. "Just like this. I watched the rise and fall of her chest until there was no more rise. And I’ve been holding my breath ever since."
